The Police and Crime Commissioner for Northamptonshire is responsible for the strategic direction of policing in the county. The PCC is a publically elected official and therefore has a responsibility to communicate effectively and regularly to the public he or she serves.
Jump were challenged to improve public-facing communication at all levels for the Office of Police and Crime Commissioner. This included creating and delivering effective strategies across owned media channels, such as the Commissioner’s website and Twitter feeds, as well as earning media coverage via a public relations plan.
Jump designed and built a new public-friendly website for the PCC that is suitable to house regularly updated content and re-wrote existing content to ensure it was written and presented with the target audience in mind.
We created a social media strategy to run in tandem with the website, meaning the public were kept abreast of breaking news stories and updated blogs, while we also contacted key media personnel to build relationships.
Taking charge of the management of all communications, we ensured information was freely available to public and media to ensure opportunities for coverage and engagement were maximized.
Within nine months of the new PCC website launching, unique users to the site had trebled. The Commissioner received more local and national press coverage than ever before, while record levels for engagement were registered on the PCC’s Office Twitter feed.
Jump continues to manage content and public relations for the Office of Police and Crime Commissioner and is proud to advice the PCC on this area.
